Seratis is a secure, HIPAA-compliant mobile application that allows hospital staff to communicate with each other via text, audio or video messages. The app brings together the entire patient care team (doctors, nurses, social workers, case managers) through their smartphones and allows them to communicate efficiently and effectively to monitor tasks related to their patients’ care.

Probleemstelling

Currently, physicians waste too much valuable time using a pager to reach their colleagues about patient care. This reduces their ability to care for their patients effectively and causes unnecessary productivity loss for hospitals. Doctors waste about an hour a day using a pager, and a nurse up to 25% of his/her shift time. This costs an average hospital $8M/year or $44B across the United States in lost productivity.

Our team believes that Seratis is a breakthrough technology that will revolutionize the way in which healthcare is delivered, reducing medical errors and improving patient outcomes. Because the Netherlands has such a strong wireless network already in place, we believe that Seratis could be easily integrated into the health care setting and make a drastic impact in a relatively short amount of time.

Seratis is a care coordination tool that is a secure, patient-centric mobile application which enables doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers to communicate with each other via text, images, and videos.

Doelgroep

Seratis will be sold directly to hospitals. Our primary target market is academic medical centers, which are also large teaching hospitals. These organizations tend to have residents who are comfortable using smartphone technology in their personal lives, and also have an even greater need for coordination and collaboration due to more complex patient cases. Within the United States, there are 5500 registered hospitals. According to a report by the International Hospital Federation, the Netherlands has approximately 250 hospitals with 88,000 doctors and nurses, many of whom are ideal candidates for implementation of Seratis.

Verdienmodel

Our main revenue stream is using a SaaS model and selling directly to hospitals. We project to charge a flat, per user (healthcare professional) fee per month. Additional fees may be charged for the findings of Seralytics.

Concurrentie

The Seratis patient-centric network model separates it from competitors that primarily focus on point-to-point messaging or network analysis without patient data. We also have a unique focus on a particular market segment, complex care facilities. Unlike its competitors, Seratis is data-driven and provides advanced analytics on the patient-centric network graph and real time communications in order to reduce readmissions and network leakage.

In the fast paced and often unforgiving world of patient care, there is no room for mistakes or wasted time. The Seratis approach is a bold one because we assert that the application will outpace anything that can be done using a pager and that it is intuitive enough to be smoothly integrated into the care providers’ daily routines. Research shows that 50% of medical errors are caused by communication problems, a statistic that the smart messaging platform contained within Seratis seeks to drastically reduce.

In addition, our revolutionary Seratis analytics, or ""Seralytics"", system provides new and actionable insights such as predicting infection breakouts or increased incidence of falls. Utilizing data provided by Seralytics, providers also have the ability to compare response times across the industry, increasing responsiveness and patient satisfaction scores, which guide reimbursement.

At present, most of the Seratis team- including both co-founders- is centered in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition, several team members work remotely from other locations around the United States.

In this way, messages can be sent to different members of the care team without having to rely on cumbersome pagers or unregulated cellular phone platforms that allow confidential patient information to be sent in an unsecured manner.
